Acceleration of Depreciation for Commercial Real Estate
Since 1999, the IRS has allowed Businesses to depreciate the parts of their building more quickly than the standard 39-year schedule. The parts of the structure that are not “Structurally Significant” can be depreciated more quickly.
The way businesses do this is to utilize an analysis called a Cost Segregation Study. PBS works with engineering firms whose sole function in business is to do these studies. This goes well beyond a review of the invoices. It works through building plans, blueprints and invoices. They can do them on NEW OR EXISTING structures.
